STEP to STL – convert CAD models to STL meshes

This tool converts STEP and STP files to STL format for 3D printing, simulations, web visualisation and engineering mesh applications.

The generated STL files can then be processed further in slicers, CAD systems or simulation tools.

How does the conversion work?

  1. Upload a STEP or STP file
  2. Import CAD geometry
  3. Triangulate the 3D model
  4. Generate an STL mesh
  5. Download STL file

  • three.js
  • meshio

Mesh options

Depending on processing mode, different options are available:

  • Triangulation accuracy
  • linear deviation
  • angular deviation
  • ASCII or binary STL
  • optional browser conversion without upload

Current limitations

  • Sehr grosse Baugruppen können langsamer verarbeitet werden
  • Server-Konvertierung (Open CASCADE) derzeit nicht eingerichtet — Browser-Modus aktiv
  • Browser conversion does not support all complex geometries
  • Current maximum file size is 80 MB per file
