DXF analysis – check DXF drawings before manufacturing

This tool analyses DXF drawings for typical geometry and manufacturing issues before laser, plasma, waterjet or CNC processes.

The DXF file is analysed server-side and automatically deleted after processing.

What is DXF analysis used for?

Clean, error-free 2D geometry is essential for reliable manufacturing processes and CAM systems.

Typical use cases:

  • Laser and plasma cutting
  • CNC milling and engraving
  • Waterjet cutting
  • Nesting and material optimisation
  • Quality control before CAM import

Which properties are checked?

The analysis detects typical issues and inconsistencies in DXF files:

  • duplicate lines and segments
  • open contours and polylines
  • segments that are too short
  • overlapping geometries
  • invalid layer structures
  • unclosed contours

This allows manufacturing issues to be detected and corrected early.

How does DXF analysis work?

  1. Upload DXF file
  2. Analyse DXF entities
  3. Check geometry and segments
  4. Validate contours
  5. Show analysis report

Supported include lines, polylines, circles and arcs.

Typical benefits of the analysis

  • Avoidance of manufacturing errors
  • better CAM compatibility
  • clean contours for laser and CNC
  • early error detection
  • optimisation of technical drawings

Current limitations

  • Current maximum file size is 80 MB per DXF file
  • Block references are not fully resolved
  • Very complex drawings may take longer to process
  • The analysis is performed server-side

Analyse DXF file

Max. 80 MB. Supported: DXF (ASCII and binary).

In drawing units (typically mm). Segments below this are considered too short.

Comparison tolerance for points and segments.

Checks

  • duplicate lines and segments
  • open contours and polylines
  • segments that are too short
  • overlapping geometries
  • invalid layer structures
